To be honest, I did not know that much before the class: I wasn't even sure what was meant under "diversity". That is the reason why I really enjoyed the overview we had in class on that matter, supported by updated statistical data and fresh articles and publication. I have been anywhere yet in the USA and moved out of North Carolina. Why I knew, I knew from readings and books. The notebook "Multicultural Education in a Pluralistic Society" offered an excellent summary.
I also enjoyed the group discussion and the cooperative effort to come to coercive decisions by negotiating,
The "Exploring Community" Exercise was also beneficial but did not pull me enough out of my comfort: though immerse in a Chinese group, conversing in Mandarin, I was in the company of highly educated people who made a significant effort to have me included. It was a great experience.
I think I have had a relatively wide experience of diversity (much is never too much on that matter). I have often felt as a minority but revisiting my diversity time line and my past have been quite a challenging effort I must confess. However, I see my future life as a challenging journey that will bring immediate reward.
